Botox Browlift

A chemical browlift can help lift and rejuvenate your face without the need to go under the knife or undergo an invasive full-face surgical procedure. Strategically-administered injectables such as Botox® are becoming popular alternatives that still provide excellent results and a more youthful, natural appearance.

The Botox® browlift works by weakening the muscles above the delicate eye area using Botox® injections. Botox®, or Botulinum toxin, is a purified natural protein that is injected into the face to paralyze the muscles and tissues, preventing more wrinkles and lines from forming. The procedure smooths away worry lines and deep grooves caused by frowning along the lower forehead. When the muscles around the tops of the eyebrows are relaxed, the skin in that area appears smoother and more youthful. Great for all skin types, a chemical browlift using Botox® may be especially effective for people who have naturally-drooping eyelids and low-hanging eyebrows. This technique lifts the skin tissues above and around the eyebrows so that the natural eyebrow arch is brought higher. The injected Botox® substance keeps the arch frozen in place and lasts for several months.

What is a chemical browlift?

A chemical browlift is a popular injection procedure that can raise the skin tissues surrounding the eyes and eyebrows in order to raise the natural eyebrow arch. This can also make the eyes appear wide, resulting in a more youthful look. Chemical browlifts are recommended for people with mild to moderate brow heaviness due to naturally drooping eyelids or low-hanging eyebrows.

How does Botox® work?

Once injected, Botox® binds to the junction between the nerve and the muscle to stop any signals from being transmitted, which prevents the individual muscle fibers from contracting. After a few months, these junctions recover their normal function as the Botox® wears off and is broken down by the body. Botox® is a temporary solution whose effects last up to four months and are fully reversible. The injections take only 5-10 minutes using a fine needle.

Does Botox® work immediately? How long does Botox® last?

Botox® typically takes 3-14 days before showing full results. However, this may vary between patients. Results of Botox® injections usually last about 3-4 months. It is generally advised to repeat a Botox® injection in three months.

What are the risks of Botox®?

Although Botox® is not associated with major side effects, it is still a toxin and can migrate to other parts of the face to cause severe distortion, muscle weakness and pain if injected improperly or in the large doses.

What are the side effects of a chemical browlift?

It is common to have small, red raised bumps of skin at the injection site, which will usually go down about 20 minutes after the procedure. Bruising at the injection site may occasionally occur, but this will resolve quickly. It is also common for patients to experience mild headaches after a Botox injection, which can be easily treated with over-the-counter painkillers.

Who is NOT suitable for Botox®?

People who should not use Botox® include the following: pregnant and breastfeeding women, anyone taking anti-coagulant medication (including herbal medicine), those who have an infection at the injection site, and those with allergies to egg albumin or known allergies to Botulinum Toxin.

What should I do following a chemical browlift procedure?

After a chemical browlift, patients should not massage the treated area or lie flat for at least 4 hours. It is also important to avoid strenuous physical activity, hot baths and showers, and alcohol consumption.
