What is a No-Scar Face Lift?

No-Scar Face Lift is an innovative laser assisted liposculpturing procedure on the face and neck. It is effective and safe procedure option for patients who wish to improve the laxity of their face and neck without a plastic surgery.  No-Scar Face Lifting is perfect for those who are looking to remove a small amount of fat in order to smooth contours and tighten skin.

Who is an ideal candidate for a No-Scar Face Lift?

This procedure is suitable for both men and women. An ideal candidate is generally in good health and does not smoke. They should have localized areas of fat in the jowl area and under the chin, in addition to having good skin integrity. Dr. Shu will examine your face and neck to determine if you are a good candidate for this procedure.

How is a No-Scar Face Lift procedure performed?

A local tumescent anesthetic is first used to numb the treated areas. Then, 3 or 4 small incisions are made—one behind each earlobe, and 1 or 2 under the chin. A tiny laser probe is passed through the layer of fat between the skin and the muscles, liquefying the fat and heating the surrounding tissue. This heat leads to collagen formation and helps in skin and tissue tightening. The amount of tightening greatly depends on skin type, age, elasticity, general health and other factors.

How long dose the procedure take?

About 1 hour.

What happens after the procedure?

After the procedure is completed, your face will be wrapped in a gauze compression dressing and a facial compression garment. Compression is typically required for 3 to 4 days after the procedure  followed by nightly use only. This helps decrease swelling and scar tissue formation, in addition to helping achieve smoothness of the treated tissues.

Does the No-Scar Face Lift replace a traditional facelift?

No, but it offers a safe and viable alternative with similar results. No-Scar Face Lift is minimally invasive and less traumatic to tissues than a traditional facelift is.

How long is the recovery period?

Patients are typically able to return to normal activities within 3 or 4 days following the procedure, and return to exercise and more strenuous activities within 2 weeks. Most patients experience mild to moderate discomfort at first and gradually feel better in the following days to weeks.

When can I see results?

Results can be seen within one week of the procedure with continued improvement over the next 3 to 4 months as tissues continue to tighten and heal. Some patients may benefit from a limited incision or mini-lift at the same time if they have significant sagging in the jowl area.

What are the possible risks and complications involved?

Just like any other surgical procedure, there are also risks involved in this procedure. The risks of No-Scar Face Lift may include infection, bleeding, and allergic reactions to medications. Complications, although rare, can include skin contour irregularities, asymmetry, seroma (fluid collection under the skin), hematoma (blood collection under the skin), skin loss, and skin burn.
